<p>The Binary/Open XML translator has been engineered to provide a
pragmatic tool for the translation of binary file formats into the
Microsoft Office Open XML format. Current Office productivity
software is backwards compatible with the existing binary formats,
but lacks the capability to address multiple file conversions in an
efficient and timely manner. Since files in the previously used
binary formats still contain valid and pertinent content, this tool
enables them to be converted into the Open XML file formats to
allow for their continued use.</p>
